This is the lantern that holds the Wisp in the film. I textured it in Substance Painters with painted normals to create a hand-chiseled, faceted effect and reflect back in the lighting.

This is a mixed media short film that I directed for over the course of 10 weeks. The team was made up of 4 technical students, and 6 animators, half 3D and 2D. I was responsible for the design and model of Gibot, his creation and character performance cementing the look of the short film early on. The film was made entirely in Maya with the minimum of Substance Painter, focusing entirely on Maya's Arnold ToonShader as the main look of the film to ensure a faster rendering time and reduce look development workload significantly.

The intention of this project was to create an original environment from the ground up. I created a bakery inspired by Korean cafes I visited when I was younger, motivated by ideas of warmth and nostalgia. Thus, I referenced many beverages and bins I have seen in my life. All assets and lighting were done in Maya, then rendered with Arnold.
